Iran has once again announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz
Iran announced that it was once again closing the Strait of Hormuz and suspending negotiations with the U.S. on resolving the conflict. Officials in Tehran emphasized that the restrictions would remain in effect until the U.S. and Israel met the conditions set forth.
According to media reports, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a warning to ships in the region, urging them not to approach the strait. Iran’s demands reportedly include the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon, the lifting of the naval blockade, and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Persian Gulf region.
At the same time, Tehran announced that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is possible only after prior approval and submission of an application at least 48 hours in advance.
Commenting on the situation, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington has no intention of making further concessions to Iran and will wait until the deadline for negotiations has passed.
It is also reported that Iran has introduced mandatory registration and insurance requirements for vessels planning to pass through the strait.
