Italy has decided to extradite a Chinese citizen to the United States in connection with a hacking case
The Italian government has decided to extradite a Chinese citizen wanted in the United States on hacking charges.
Bloomberg reports this.
According to sources, the decision was made after an Italian court ruled this month that Xu Jiewei could be extradited.
He is suspected of involvement in cyberattacks and the theft of research related to Covid-19, allegedly at the behest of the Chinese government.
Xu was detained in Italy in 2025 at the request of the U.S.
Meanwhile, his lawyer in Milan stated that he had not yet received official notification of the extradition decision.
