The inner circle of former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is reportedly moving large amounts of capital abroad and preparing to leave the country.
This was stated by Hungarian politician Péter Magyar.
According to him, individuals close to the government are transferring billions in assets to the UAE, the U.S., and Uruguay. Some of the large financial transactions, he says, have already been halted due to suspicions of money laundering.
Mátyás also claims that government officials have begun hastily selling off assets, particularly media outlets, sometimes at prices below market value.
In addition, he said, the families of influential businessmen are already leaving the country. Specifically, he stated that the family of one of Hungary’s wealthiest individuals has left Hungary and traveled to Dubai.
The politician called on law enforcement to prevent the escape of individuals who may be involved in criminal activities and to ensure an investigation into their actions.
Hungary’s soon-to-be former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced his resignation from his parliamentary seat. However, he expressed his willingness to continue leading the Fidesz party if the party congress supports his candidacy.
Recall that the Hungarian government has accused the social media platform Facebook of political bias against Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
