The European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee has supported the waiver of immunity for Diana Shoshoake, a figure known for her anti-Ukrainian views

On April 23, the European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee voted 17–0 to support a request from the Romanian Prosecutor General’s Office to lift Diana Shoshoake’s parliamentary immunity. Romanian law enforcement authorities suspect the politician of committing 11 crimes, including Holocaust denial, propaganda of fascist ideas, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.

The final decision on lifting Shoshoake’s immunity is to be made during a vote in the European Parliament’s plenary session, which could take place as early as next week. Earlier, prosecutors summoned the lawmaker to consent to a psychiatric evaluation, which she called an “attempt at political execution” and “punitive psychiatry.” Diana Shoshoake is known for her pro-Russian views, anti-Ukrainian statements, and scandalous behavior during meetings of European institutions.

On Saturday, Romania’s Central Election Bureau barred the controversial leader of the SOS party, Diana Shoshoake, from participating in the presidential election.
