Israel fears a breakdown in the ceasefire with Lebanon — CNN
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, stated that the extended ceasefire with Lebanon is not entirely guaranteed and could be broken. According to him, the Israeli side does not rule out a breach of the agreements, as the situation remains unstable.
CNN reported this.
In a comment to the publication, he expressed doubt that the Lebanese government is capable of ensuring compliance with the ceasefire in the south of the country, where the Iranian-backed "Hezbollah" operates.
"I have to be honest. You know, the Lebanese government doesn’t control Hezbollah, and Hezbollah is firing rockets in an attempt to break the truce. Israel has to respond. Every time we see a threat, we take action," he said.
The ceasefire was extended following today’s talks at the White House between Lebanese and Israeli diplomats.
Danny Danon noted that the current agreement is better than the previous one, but there is still a caveat.
"The situation has improved significantly. Of course, it’s not 100%. I hope... to see that the Lebanese military will actually be able to implement and ensure compliance with this ceasefire," he added.
Israel is ready to attack Iranand is awaiting U.S. approval, says defense minister.
Iran stated that a possible ceasefire in the war with the U.S. would only make sense if the naval blockade is lifted and Israel’s military operations cease.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington is not setting strict deadlines for reaching a truce or resuming negotiations with Iran.
Prior to this, US President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.
