Israel has shared new intelligence with the United States that, according to The Wall Street Journal, indicates Iran may be planning an assassination attempt on U.S. President Donald Trump. The U.S. leader himself also hinted at threats to his life during the NATO summit in Ankara.
Israel has shared new intelligence with the United States which, according to Tel Aviv, points to an alleged new Iranian plot to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing sources familiar with the situation.
The publication notes that for several years, Iran has declared its intention to take revenge on Trump for the killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qasem Soleimani, which took place during his first presidential term.
Trump also hinted at threats to his life while speaking with reporters at the NATO summit in Ankara.
“They want to destroy the leader of the United States—me. I’m on every list. So far, I think I’ve been a little lucky, but maybe that won’t last long,” the U.S. president said.
At the same time, the publication reports that in recent weeks, disagreements have arisen between Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding future policy toward Iran, which, according to sources, has affected the nature of their interactions.
As a reminder, a banner containing threats against Trump appeared during Khamenei’s funeral.
This weekend, Iran will host high-level foreign delegations arriving for the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
