A Gripen fighter jet crashed in Hungary

On Monday, August 24, a Gripen fighter jet belonging to the Hungarian Armed Forces crashed near the Hungarian city of Szolnok. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

 

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar reported this on social media platform X.

“The pilot successfully ejected. An investigation is underway, and the defense minister is already on his way to the scene,” Magyar said, adding that the causes of the crash are currently unknown.

According to a preliminary report, no one was injured as a result of the incident, and no civilian infrastructure was damaged, the Hungarian prime minister noted.

As a reminder, on August 19, a tourist helicopter crashed in a remote area in northern Kenya, killing all seven people on board. Among the victims were five U.S. citizens, NDTV World reported, citing local police and the U.S. State Department.

On August 17, a small private helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos in the Aegean Sea. All three people on board were killed in the crash.
