Israel: Hamas member involved in 2003 attack killed in Gaza Strip

Israel reported that Farah Hamed, a senior Hamas member, was killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) strike. Hamas announced his death on Wednesday, the Jerusalem Post reports.

2003 attack

According to the publication, Hamed took part in a 2003 drive-by shooting attack in which Shalom Har-Melech, the husband of Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech, was killed.

Limor Son Har-Melech, who was seven months pregnant at the time, sustained severe injuries but survived. Shortly after the attack, she underwent an emergency cesarean section and gave birth to a daughter.

Destruction of weapons depots

On the same day, the IDF and Israel's Shin Bet security service said they had destroyed three Hamas weapons depots in different parts of the Gaza Strip. According to the military, the sites stored weapons, explosive devices, anti-tank missiles, and other military equipment.
