Israel announced strikes on the IRGC headquarters and military infrastructure in Tehran
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out massive airstrikes on one of the main headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other military targets in the Iranian capital.
According to an official IDF statement, the attack was aimed at degrading the Iranian regime’s security systems and capabilities, CNN reports. In addition to the headquarters, key weapons production facilities, as well as research centers related to electronics, ballistic missiles, and warheads, were targeted.
The struck IRGC headquarters was used by the Iranian military to coordinate the actions of its units, assess the situation, and command the paramilitary Basij forces. The Israeli side emphasized that measures were taken during the operation to minimize harm to the civilian population, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance data. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported strikes on several locations in Tehran, and the local Red Crescent began searching for a child under the rubble of a residential building.
This wave of attacks is part of the current operational phase of the conflict, targeting the Iranian regime’s critical infrastructure. Earlier, Russia called on Tehran to immediately cease hostilities, and the Russian Foreign Ministry described the U.S. and Israeli strikes near Iranian nuclear facilities as extremely dangerous. The situation in the region remains tense amid Iran’s threats to deliver “surprises” to Washington and the strengthening of the British presence in Cyprus to protect its bases from Iranian drones.
Iran has announced “surprises” for the U.S. and Israel in the coming days.
As a reminder, the US and Israel have different objectives in the war with Iran.
Israel also bombed a port from which Iran was supplying weapons to Russia.
