Israeli officials fear Iran may launch missiles amid US pressure — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, senior defense officials told members of the security cabinet that they fear Iran may launch missiles at the country. In their assessment, Tehran may misjudge the situation amid US pressure and the worsening economic situation in Iran, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Assessment by Israeli officials
According to the publication, after the exchange of strikes in the war with Iran subsided following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire on April 7, Iran launched missiles at Israel only once.
Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate chief Major General Shlomi Binder told ministers that the US naval and air blockade is “very effective.” According to him, the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has a significant impact, and the United States controls the strait to a greater extent than Iran.

Sanctions against airlines
Israeli officials also said that the air blockade, which began two weeks ago, is increasing the effectiveness of the restrictions. On September 23, the United States imposed sanctions on 27 Iranian airlines. Fuel suppliers and ground handling companies were cut off from the dollar-based financial system, while a number of countries banned Iranian airlines from landing in their territories.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that all Iranian airlines had stopped flying. IDF representatives told ministers that these measures are significantly affecting Iran’s economic situation: “The situation is worsening. It is getting worse every day.”
