Israeli military raids Biddu in West Bank — Asharq Al-Awsat
Israeli forces raided the Palestinian village of Biddu in Palestine’s occupied West Bank on September 21. The operation followed a shooting near the Israeli settlement of Neve Tzuf, in which an Israeli settler was killed. According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the suspect was detained by the military after being found in a hospital.
Searches and detentions
The Jerusalem Governorate, a Palestinian local authority body, said Israeli forces launched a large-scale detention campaign in Biddu at dawn, targeting dozens of young men. It also said that during the raid, the military searched homes, damaged property, and used physical violence against several residents.
Biddu Mayor Nazmi Mansour told AFP that the military entered the village after midnight, deploying dozens of military jeeps and hundreds of soldiers. According to him, they conducted house-to-house searches, set up field interrogation points in buildings they had taken control of, and questioned dozens of people. Mansour added that the military blocked the entrances to the village and that shops were closed.

Statements by Israeli officials
The Israel Defense Forces told AFP that it was checking reports about the course of the raid. IDF Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said at the shooting scene that the military remained on heightened alert and intended to impose a blockade on the village and identify everyone who may have assisted the attacker.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the suspect to be executed first under the recently adopted death penalty law. According to the publication, the law provides for the death penalty by default for Palestinians from the West Bank convicted of terrorist crimes resulting in death.
