Jerusalem Post: Kurdish group linked to killing of IRGC member in Iran
A man whose affiliation with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was confirmed by Iranian state media was killed in the village of Chiyane in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province. As the Jerusalem Post reports, a source in the Kurdish movement linked the attack to the Khori Hiwa (“Sun of Hope”) group.
Attack near the house
According to the publication’s source, the man, named Mala Mohammadi Mala Kaderi, was shot by two attackers on motorcycles near the entrance to his home. The source claims that the gunmen likely belonged to Khori Hiwa and fled after the attack.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the deceased’s body was taken to the morgue of a hospital in Piranshahr. There, the publication’s source said, it was kept under heightened security.
Khori Hiwa previously claimed responsibility for clashes with the IRGC in July. There were also reports that the group carried out attacks on Kurds accused of cooperating with Iranian authorities.

Statements by Iranian media
Iranian state media confirmed the man’s death on the morning of September 9 and said those allegedly involved in the attack were linked to Israel. A public relations representative for the Martyrs Corps of West Azerbaijan, the IRGC’s provincial unit, called the deceased a high-ranking representative of the popular mobilization.
The statement also claimed that the killing was intended to sow discord between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Iranian media identified the deceased as Mamosta Mohammad Nujati.
The source provided the Jerusalem Post with a video in which a man expresses condolences over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and supports the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as leader. The publication stressed that it could not verify the recording’s authenticity.
Other reports of attacks
Over the past week, there have also been reports of attacks on members of the IRGC and the Basij paramilitary force. Tasnim, an agency affiliated with the IRGC, reported the death of Basij commander Abdolrauf Eshaghi in the Parud district of Sistan and Baluchestan province. Separately, the IRGC said two of its members were killed during an operation against a group it described as linked to the United States and Israel.
