German Chancellor Booed During Speech on Reforms — The Guardian

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was booed during a speech to his coalition partners after he spoke about the need for sweeping reforms in the country.

This was reported by The Guardian.

During his speech, Merz stated that Germany risks falling behind in a rapidly changing world if it does not modernize the country and resolve its accumulated problems.

After he said the country needed to “pull itself together,” the room erupted in boos, laughter, and shouts. Some in the audience also gave him the thumbs-down.

The chancellor emphasized that excessive bureaucracy and high costs are harming German business, while calls for reforms to the pension system and healthcare drew a critical reaction from the audience.

Merz has become the least popular leader among democracies.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that there is currently no alternative to NATO, and the alliance must be preserved and developed.
