Croatia has refused to grant agrément to Israel's new ambassador

The Office of Croatian President Zoran Milanović announced that it has refused to grant agrément to Israel’s new ambassador, Nisan Amdor. This refers to the official approval required for the appointment of an ambassador.

This was reported byleading Israeli media outlets.

The statement notes that Israel allegedly violated an unwritten diplomatic rule by publicly announcing the candidate’s name before receiving the Croatian side’s consent. It also states that due to the position of the current Israeli government, such consent will not be granted.

The current Israeli ambassador, Harry Koren, is set to conclude his term at the end of May. He has previously served in diplomatic missions in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, and the Czech Republic. Amdor is expected to temporarily assume another diplomatic role that does not require the host country’s approval.

Croatia has fully completed demining of its territory following the Yugoslav War — Croatia Week.

As a reminder, mines are being laid in the Vinnytsia region along the border with Transnistria.

In addition, over a million mines have been laid on Ukrainian territory.
