Death toll from floods in Nepal reaches 1,451 — The Hindu

In Nepal, the death toll from devastating flash floods on August 26 has reached 1,451 people. Nepal Police reported this on September 20, according to The Hindu International.

Police said that the number of victims had risen after new bodies were discovered in the affected areas. The flash floods occurred on August 26, and the country continues to deal with the consequences of the natural disaster.

Search for missing people

More than 6,000 people are still considered missing. Search operations continue along river sections, amid debris, and at damaged hydropower facilities in the Rasuwa district and neighboring areas. The publication reports that search efforts have not stopped.

On September 18 in Kathmandu, trade union members, families of missing workers, and concerned people gathered to honor the memory of hundreds of people killed and thousands missing as a result of the floods. At the gathering, they remembered the victims of the natural disaster and people who are still being sought.
