The death toll from the floods in Nepal and Tibet has risen to 1,380 – Reuters
At least 1,380 people have died as a result of the massive flooding that occurred on August 26 in Nepal and Tibet, and more than 5,500 people are reported missing.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the region, and the government in Kathmandu has appealed to the international community for urgent assistance, requesting long-range drones, Bailey bridges, DNA testing kits, tunneling equipment, and epidemic control supplies.
Over the past few days, rescuers in Nepal have managed to pull four survivors from the rubble and tunnels, including a Chinese citizen and workers at a local hydroelectric power plant. Meanwhile, 12 more bodies have been recovered in Tibet. A significant portion of those missing are Indian pilgrims who were heading to holy sites near Lake Manasarovar and Mount Kailash, while relatives of foreign tourists report difficulties in obtaining information from Chinese authorities regarding the fate of their loved ones.

In Nepal, rescuers are continuing to search for workers who may have been trapped in the tunnels of hydroelectric facilities following a glacial and landslide on the border with China on August 26.
According to Nepal’s Disaster Management Authority, rescuers have recovered 1,341 bodies, while 4,996 people remain missing. Chinese state media reported 31 deaths and 531 people missing in Tibet. Among those missing in the two countries are approximately 800 foreigners, including tourists and pilgrims.
