China to help Pakistan establish modern law enforcement centre — Dawn

In Pakistan, China will cooperate in establishing a modern law enforcement centre. The agreement was reached in Islamabad during a meeting between Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Vice Minister of Public Security Gao Qi, Dawn reports.

Modernising the system

The initiative is intended to help modernise Pakistan's law enforcement system through improved infrastructure, technology and specialised staff training. The sides also discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and China.

Representatives of the two countries discussed joint measures to counter terrorism and drug trafficking. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in exchange programmes for police training, as well as in modern technologies and equipment.

Security cooperation

Gao Qi noted Pakistan's sacrifices and the country's determination in the fight against terrorism. Mohsin Naqvi said that the future law enforcement centre would become another symbol of Pakistani-Chinese friendship.

According to the Pakistani minister, Chinese artificial intelligence-based technologies and equipment could help Pakistan overcome security challenges. He also said that he sought to further expand cooperation with China in the area of internal security.
