China and the U.S. are ready to help bring an end to Russia's war against Ukraine, says Wang Yi
China and the United States have expressed interest in continuing efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi following a meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to Wang Yi, both sides are in favor of a swift end to the conflict and have already made efforts to support the peace process.
“Both China and the U.S. hope for a swift end to the conflict and have both made significant efforts to facilitate peace talks in their respective ways,” he noted.
Wang Yi emphasized that peace talks cannot happen overnight, but the parties are ready to continue the dialogue and promote a political settlement.
“Complex problems do not have simple solutions, and peace talks cannot be achieved overnight,” the Chinese Foreign Minister added.
Wang Yi also stated that China will continue to play a “constructive role” in resolving global crises, specifically:
- facilitating peace talks regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine;
- efforts to restore peace in the Middle East;
- negotiations between the U.S. and Iran on the nuclear issue.
The Chinese minister emphasized that conflict resolution is possible only through diplomacy, particularly regarding security issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
“China calls on the U.S. and Iran to continue resolving their differences… through negotiations,” Wang Yi stated.
He also stressed the need for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire, which, according to Beijing, is the key to long-term stability.
On May 7, Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the situation in the Middle East is currently at a critical juncture between escalation and peace. According to him, China is ready to facilitate the resumption of the negotiation process between Iran and the United States with the aim of stabilizing the situation in the region.
