Xi Jinping will visit the United States this fall at Trump's invitation
Chinese leader Xi Jinping has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump and will make an official visit to the United States this fall.
This was announced by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to CNN.
According to him, the two sides described the recent meeting between the leaders in Beijing as “historic” and substantive, and reached a number of important agreements.
Wang Yi emphasized that the meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping marked an “important milestone” in bilateral relations, noting that the leaders engaged in “in-depth discussions” and achieved “substantial results,” with “generally balanced and positive outcomes” recorded in the trade and economic sphere.
He also noted that the parties agreed to continue implementing previous agreements between the U.S. and China.
Key topics of the talks included market access for agricultural products, expanding mutual trade amid tariff reductions, and establishing new trade and investment councils between the countries
Xi Jinping’s anticipated visit to the U.S. could be one of the most significant events in Washington-Beijing relations in recent years, as the parties seek to stabilize economic cooperation and reduce tensions in the trade sphere.
