Can China provide Iran with air defense systems?
The publication noted that Beijing could transfer anti-aircraft missile systems, known as SAMs, to Tehran. Such weapons would pose a major threat to U.S. aviation.
However, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy stated that the country has never transferred weapons to other countries, and that all intelligence information is lies and propaganda.
“As a responsible major country, China consistently fulfills its international obligations. We urge the U.S. side to refrain from baseless accusations, malicious speculation, and sensationalism,” the spokesperson said.
U.S. President Trump also claimed that an F-15 over Iran was allegedly shot down by a heat-seeking missile. Iran asserts that it used a new air defense system, though whether it was Chinese remains unknown.
CNN emphasized that Iran has long maintained military and economic ties with China and Russia. In particular, Tehran supplies Moscow with “Shahed” drones for the war against Ukraine and exports most of its sanctioned oil to Beijing.
