China and Russia to Hold Joint Naval Exercises — Bloomberg
In July 2026, the Chinese and Russian navies will conduct large-scale joint exercises in the Yellow Sea.
After completing their combat training, ships from both countries will set out on a joint maritime patrol in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
China’s Ministry of National Defense has officially confirmed that the maneuvers will take place in the immediate vicinity of the city of Qingdao.
The military will practice coordinating their actions both at sea and in the airspace surrounding the region.
These exercises are called “Maritime Interaction—2026” and are an integral part of the annual bilateral cooperation plan.
Military authorities emphasize that such exercises are conducted to enhance the level of coordination between the two countries’ navies.
Beijing officially states that the main goal of the exercises is “to respond to security challenges and contribute to maintaining regional peace and stability.”
Despite active preparations for the event, the Chinese side has so far refrained from disclosing specific dates for the active phase.
The exact number of military personnel and military equipment to be involved in the maneuvers also remains unknown.
Analysts note that the intensification of military cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is taking place against the backdrop of complex geopolitical developments in the Pacific region.
Joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean, which will begin immediately after the exercises, will serve as a demonstration of the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.
Such operations typically attract close attention from international observers and neighboring states with interests in the region.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense has not yet released detailed information regarding the scenarios that will be practiced during the “Maritime Interaction-2026” exercises.
However, experts suggest that the focus will be on detecting maritime targets and coordination between command posts.
Bloomberg reported this, citing a statement from China’s Ministry of National Defense.
