China urges US to lift tariffs following Supreme Court ruling
China's Ministry of Commerce has called on the United States to revoke its unilateral tariff measures after a ruling by the US Supreme Court regarding import duties. The ministry is conducting a comprehensive review of the decision, emphasizing that such measures violate international trade rules and US domestic law, harming the interests of all parties involved.
Earlier, the US Supreme Court found that the administration of President Donald Trump had exceeded its authority by imposing import tariffs on other countries. Although the court did not clarify whether the US should refund the tariffs paid, Trump subsequently announced a 10% import tariff on all countries, which was later increased to 15%.
Going forward, the trade relations between the US and China may hinge on Washington’s decision to repeal tariffs and adhere to international trade standards.
