During a briefing on May 26, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning commented on statements regarding Russia’s threats of a possible large-scale attack on Kyiv. Beijing called for a de-escalation of tensions and emphasized the need for negotiations, stressing that, in the Chinese view, dialogue is the only way to resolve the crisis.
“Regarding the crisis in Ukraine, China’s position is consistent and clear: dialogue and negotiations are the only possible way to resolve the crisis. China calls on all parties involved to work together to de-escalate the situation as soon as possible and create conditions for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations,” said a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to a question about Russia’s threat of a large-scale attack on Kyiv.
