The vessels CSCL Indian Ocean and CSCL Arctic Ocean, flying the Hong Kong flag, had been in the Persian Gulf since the onset of conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier said Tehran permitted transit for "friendly countries," including China.

However, Iranian media reported that military forces have turned back at least three ships, demonstrating ongoing tensions in the region and the complexities of navigating the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.

COSCO Shipping is among the world's largest shipping companies, specialising in container transport and operating a significant fleet on major maritime routes.

These developments in the Strait of Hormuz highlight the persistent geopolitical tensions and unstable maritime security in the area due to conflicts involving key regional actors.

The future course will depend on diplomatic negotiations and agreements between Iran, China, and other parties, as well as on broader regional stability.
