North Korea promises stronger response to US drills — The Hindu

In North Korea, Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of leader Kim Jong Un, said on September 18 that US-led military exercises are increasing tensions on the Korean Peninsula. She also said that the country would not change its course of strengthening its nuclear arsenal.

As The Hindu reports, citing Reuters, Kim Yo Jong's statement was disseminated by the state-run KCNA agency. She placed responsibility for worsening tensions on the Korean Peninsula on US-led military exercises.

Kim Yo Jong mentioned the Pacific Vanguard 2026 naval exercises near Guam. She called them another threatening US-led war game.

According to Kim Yo Jong, these exercises are part of Washington's efforts to expand its military influence in the Asia-Pacific region. She linked this to US cooperation with allies, including South Korea and Japan.
