The Colosseum in Rome has increased the number of evening tours due to the heat
This summer, the Colosseum in Rome will host visitors for evening tours four days a week—until 11:00 p.m. The extended schedule was introduced due to high temperatures in the Italian capital, according to Euronews.
Tours will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Each group can accommodate up to 275 people. The summer program is already fully booked.
After dark, visitors can explore the arena and the amphitheater’s underground passages while avoiding the intense daytime heat. Previously, night tours were held only twice a week, but their frequency has been doubled for the summer.

Simone Quillici, director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, stated that extending the hours of operation is intended to offer tourists a cooler alternative during Rome’s heat waves. The program is funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture and may be extended through September.
Built in the 1st century, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheater in the world. It once held approximately 50,000 spectators, and during the peak tourist season, up to 20,000 people visit the site each day.
