Colombian police arrest Russian national wanted by US for terrorism
Russian citizen Denis Alimov, wanted in the USA on terrorism charges, was arrested by Colombia’s national police at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá under an Interpol red notice. This arrest highlights critical international collaboration in counterterrorism efforts.
Investigations reveal that from October 2024 to March 2025, Alimov allegedly conspired to assassinate or abduct two prominent European figures. Case documents indicate he initially funded the plan with about 60,000 USD and pledged payments up to 1.5 million USD per target. He is also accused of recruiting and coordinating accomplices and providing confidential technical intelligence to facilitate the crimes.
The case is ongoing, but the arrest marks a significant step in combating transnational terrorism and may lead to his extradition to the United States for prosecution.
