In the United Kingdom, King Charles III, through a letter to government and military officials, clarified that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will not resume royal duties after returning to the country. ABC News Australia reports.
Status of the couple
The letter on behalf of the monarch was circulated by the Lord Chamberlain, a senior Buckingham Palace official. As stated in the document, its purpose was to avoid “doubt or confusion” regarding the status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The letter states that the couple are no longer working members of the royal family. The forms of address “His Royal Highness” and “Her Royal Highness” should not be used in relation to them.

Security and administrative matters
The Lord Chamberlain noted that Harry and Meghan’s charitable work is their personal matter and is carried out in a private capacity. According to him, their position is similar to that of private individuals with commercial and charitable interests.
Security matters related to the couple should be referred to the police, while administrative inquiries should be directed to their office, which operates separately from the Royal Household. At the same time, requests concerning the hosting of Prince Harry and Meghan, particularly if the use of public funds may be required, should be sent to Buckingham Palace.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in early 2020 and moved to Montecito, California. Last month, they returned to the United Kingdom with their children.
