Pakistan holds hearing on environmental assessment of Duddar mine — Dawn

The Environmental Protection Agency of Pakistan’s Balochistan province held a public hearing in Quetta on the environmental impact assessment report for the Duddar lead-zinc project in Lasbela district. The agency collected public feedback on the planned underground extraction of lead and zinc.

Hearing in Quetta

The hearing was held at City Hall on Samungli Road in Quetta. It was organized in accordance with Pakistan’s Environmental Protection Act 2012 to collect comments, objections, and proposals from stakeholders before the agency decides on an environmental permit for the project.

Underground mining in Lasbela

The Duddar Lead-Zinc Project involves underground extraction of lead and zinc in the Duddar area of Kanraj tehsil, Lasbela district, Balochistan.

The project operator is MCC Huaye Duddar Mining Company (Private) Limited.
