Kotei says he does not plan to run in 2028 — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, Julius Nykwe Kotei, CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), said that he currently has no intention of running for parliament in the Klottey-Korle constituency in the 2028 elections. He said this on Starr FM, MyJoyOnline reports.
Statement on the elections
Kotei denied suggestions that he was preparing to compete for the seat with the incumbent Klottey-Korle Member of Parliament, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings. According to him, he has the right to stand as a candidate in the constituency, but has not decided to take part in the 2028 elections.
The official said Agyeman-Rawlings should not worry, as he does not intend to compete against her in 2028. At the same time, he did not rule out that his position could change both in the coming years and regarding the 2028 elections. Kotei added that he does not hide his political ambitions and would openly announce an intention to run.

Experience in Klottey-Korle
Kotei, also known as Logas, spoke about his many years of political activity in Klottey-Korle. According to him, at the age of 17 he was a branch secretary of the National Democratic Congress, although he could not register at the time. Later, he worked as an election observer in the 2004 elections, headed a branch, served as deputy communications officer and as communications officer in the constituency.
Kotei is currently the constituency's vice-chairman. He also said that he is a native of Klottey-Korle and comes from Osu. Agyeman-Rawlings has represented Klottey-Korle in parliament since 2017, while Kotei was appointed CEO of the DVLA in January 2025.
