Yemeni government forces say they retook two positions between Taiz and Lahj — Anadolu Agency
Yemeni government forces said they had retaken control of Mount Al-Bazla and the Madhula area following fighting with the Houthis on the Al-Aghbara front between the provinces of Taiz and Lahj. This was reported by Anadolu Agency on September 19, citing Fayad al-Numan, an official at Yemen's Ministry of Information.
Fighting on the Al-Aghbara front
According to al-Numan, the armed forces and the Popular Resistance took part in the fighting. The clashes took place on the front between the Al-Waziya district in Taiz province and the Al-Subaiha area in Lahj province.
The official also said that government forces inflicted personnel and equipment losses on the Houthis and attacked the group's reinforcements. In addition, he said, the military struck other Houthi positions and military vehicles in the village of Al-Harta, in the Al-Zarifa area in western Taiz province.

Situation in other areas
The Al-Aghbara front is of strategic importance because of its location between Lahj and Taiz and its operational connection to directions in both provinces, the agency noted. Houthi representatives did not comment on the reports of fighting.
According to media reports, the Houthis have recently advanced on the western coast and established control over strategic areas in the provinces of Hodeidah and Taiz, including the city of Mocha, as well as Red Sea islands, including Mayyun in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to the same reports, government forces were advancing in Al-Jawf province toward the administrative center of Al-Hazm. Fighting also continued in Marib, Al-Dhalea and Al-Bayda.
The escalation of hostilities in Yemen began in early July and intensified in September, particularly on the western coast and near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
