The Kremlin welcomed Hungary's refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine
Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov welcomed the statement by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar regarding Budapest’s refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine.
Peskov made this statement in an interview with Russian propaganda media.
“If a party says it considers it unnecessary to add fuel to the fire, this can only be welcomed,” said the Kremlin representative.
Peskov also repeated Russian narratives regarding the war, stating that peace in Ukraine would allegedly “come sooner” if other countries stopped providing military aid to Kyiv.
The day before, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, outlined Budapest’s position on Ukraine, specifically ruling out the possibility of supplying Hungarian weapons to the Ukrainian side.
The Kremlin has traditionally opposed Western military support for Ukraine and regularly calls on Kyiv’s allies to stop supplying weapons.
As a reminder, Ukraine and Hungary have agreedon a new round of negotiations.
Earlier, the Hungarian government commented on the massive attack by Russian drones on Transcarpathia, during which the region’s critical infrastructure was targeted. Budapest described the situation in the border region as extremely alarming and announced that it was preparing urgent countermeasures.
