EU ambassadors discussed the crash of a Russian drone in Romania
On Friday, May 29, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (Coreper) held an emergency meeting to discuss the incident involving a Russian drone crashing into a residential high-rise building in Romania.

Diplomats also raised the issue of holding a large-scale strategic discussion on a joint response to such acts of aggression.
European countries are demonstrating solidarity amid constant provocations and security threats from the Russian Federation.
During a meeting of diplomatic representatives in Brussels, the Romanian side provided attendees with a detailed briefing on the current situation in the border region.
EU ambassadors in Brussels held a discussion regarding the incident involving a Russian drone in Romania and plan to continue the discussion.
At the start of the discussion, the Romanian diplomatic mission informed EU ambassadors about the incident in the Romanian city of Galați, where a Russian attack drone struck a residential high-rise building.
This incident sparked a wave of outrage and unanimous support for Bucharest from all European partners. EU member states acknowledge that such threats to airspace are becoming increasingly systematic.
All other delegations at the table, representing all EU member states, expressed solidarity with Romania and with other EU member states that have recently faced similar drone incidents.
The diplomats’ main goal is to prevent a recurrence of events that pose a threat to the lives of Europe’s civilian population.

During the Russian strike on the Odesa region on April 25, Russian drones were moving along the border with Romania. British aircraft patrolling Romanian airspace tracked their routes. Later, drone debris was found in border areas of Romania.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident involving a drone crash near the city of Galați.
