Latvia has announced a test of its sirens and mobile alert system — LSM

On Tuesday, June 2, a large-scale scheduled test of the national public early warning system will take place throughout Latvia.

For a short period of time, sirens will sound across the country, and special alerts will be sent to citizens’ mobile phones.

The main purpose of this event is to thoroughly verify the technical readiness and proper functioning of the equipment in the event of actual emergencies.

The Latvian State Fire and Rescue Service has officially announced that the test will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. local time.

Audible sirens across the country will sound continuously for three minutes so that specialists can assess the coverage and technical condition of the devices.

At the same time, authorities will use modern mobile alert technology to send test notifications to residents’ phones.
