LinkedIn to cut about 5% of its workforce — Reuters

LinkedIn plans to lay off about 5% of its workforce as part of this year’s latest round of layoffs in the tech sector. The company is preparing to officially announce the decision, which is part of a broader cost-cutting effort among major IT corporations.

This was reported by Reuters.

The Microsoft-owned social network plans to cut about 5% of its workforce as part of a team reorganization and a shift to focus employees on areas where the company’s business is growing, one of the sources said on condition of anonymity.

According to LinkedIn’s website, the company has over 17,500 full-time employees worldwide. Reuters was unable to determine which specific teams will be affected by the cuts.

The cuts come as LinkedIn, which sells recruitment tools and subscriptions, saw its revenue grow by 12% in the just-ended quarter compared to the previous year, signaling accelerated growth in 2026, according to Microsoft documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

One source told Reuters that the layoffs were not due to artificial intelligence replacing jobs at LinkedIn.
