Lithuania will write off health insurance debts for volunteers helping Ukraine
The Lithuanian Seimas has decided to write off debts related to contributions to the mandatory health insurance fund for volunteers assisting Ukraine.
This was reported by LRT.
The relevant amendments to the law were unanimously supported by 94 deputies.
Under the new rules, debts will be waived for volunteers who were in Ukraine and provided assistance during the war but did not declare their departure from the country.
To qualify, they must provide confirmation from Ukrainian authorities of their participation in volunteer activities.
The decision applies to Lithuanian residents who traveled to Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
The new regulations will take effect on July 1.
