Eximbank USA will provide $300 million to Naftogaz
The U.S. Export-Import Bank will finance the purchase of American equipment for Naftogaz in the amount of $300 million.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on Telegram following a meeting with Eximbank of the United States President John Jovanovich.
"We agreed to launch a financing mechanism for the purchase of American energy equipment for Naftogaz worth $300 million. This will allow us to restore gas production facilities destroyed by Russian attacks," the head of government said.
She added that the meeting also discussed opportunities to finance a broader energy sector modernization program worth over $1 billion.
"In addition, we considered the possibility of creating a mechanism to support the supply of American LNG to Ukraine on financing terms comparable to market conditions in the Eurozone," Svyrydenko said.
She noted that to get through the 2025–2026 heating season, Naftogaz imported a record 900 million cubic meters of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG).
"Ukraine is interested in increasing the volume of U.S. gas purchases and deepening cooperation with U.S. financial institutions in this area," the prime minister noted.
Svyrydenko added that she also discussed with Eximbank USA leadership financing options for the purchase of locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia.
