Venezuela has responded to whether it would agree to Trump's proposal to become the 51st state

Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, has reacted sharply to Washington's statements regarding the possible annexation of the country.

This was reported by The Independent.

She officially rejected the idea of Venezuela joining the United States as the 51st state, emphasizing the inviolability of national sovereignty.

Speaking at the final stage of court hearings in The Hague, Delcy Rodríguez called the U.S. proposal completely unacceptable.

She stressed that the people of Venezuela will not allow their country to be turned into a subordinate territory or an object of geopolitical manipulation.

The official highlighted the country’s historical heritage and its right to self-determination.

During her speech, she stated unequivocally: “We will continue to defend our integrity, our sovereignty, our independence, and our history.”

It was specifically noted that the status of a free nation is fundamental to the Venezuelan people.

Rodríguez added that Venezuela is “not a colony, but a free country” capable of determining its own destiny without external interference from the Prime Minister or foreign leaders.

Rodriguez’s remarks came amid international scrutiny of the conflict between Venezuela and Guyana. The subject of the dispute is the Essequibo region, which is renowned for its vast deposits of minerals and natural resources.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in South America’s regional resources.

However, the attempt to link the issue of Venezuela’s territorial integrity to the U.S. government has drawn a wave of criticism from Latin American politicians.

In Caracas, such statements are viewed as a form of psychological pressure and a disregard for international law. Diplomats note that such remarks only complicate the already tense relations between the two countries.

Nicholas Maduro’s son claimed that his father had been kidnapped by the U.S. and called on the international community to support Venezuela.
