Lukashenko met with Lavrov following Russia's massive attack on Ukraine
Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Minsk.
The talks took place the day after another massive Russian attack on Ukraine, during which the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was damaged.
The parties have not officially disclosed the content of the conversation. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the meeting was intended to discuss the international situation, preparations for the G7 summit, relations with Western countries, and the war against Ukraine.
The meeting also took place amid growing international attention to Moscow’s actions ahead of the G7 leaders’ summit.

The last time Putin adjusted the size of the Russian military before February 2022 was in November 2017. Since the start of the full-scale war, the Kremlin has repeatedly increased the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces and has been actively recruiting contract soldiers and conducting mobilization measures to replenish its personnel. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
A sharp increase in the number of Russian mobile fire groups has been recorded on the approaches to the temporarily occupied Crimea; these units are being deployed along key roads and bridges. These areas include the vicinity of Chongar, the R-280 highway, and crossings over the North Crimean Canal.
