Meloni has launched a tour of the Gulf states to strengthen energy security

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has arrived in Saudi Arabia, kicking off a series of strategic visits to Gulf countries.

This was reported by the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The main purpose of the trip is to hold important talks on ensuring Italy’s energy stability and diversifying its sources of supply.

The head of the Italian government arrived in Jeddah on Friday, April 3.

Over the next two days, she plans to hold a series of meetings with key regional leaders to discuss bilateral cooperation and the geopolitical situation.

In addition to Saudi Arabia, Giorgia Meloni’s itinerary includes visits to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

This busy diplomatic itinerary underscores Rome’s desire to strengthen its influence in the region and find reliable partners in the energy sector.

It is important to note that the Italian prime minister became the first Western leader to visit Middle Eastern countries since the start of the military conflict in Iran.

This lends her visit particular political weight and symbolic significance on the international stage.

The central theme of all planned discussions will be Italy’s energy security.

As a reminder, Meloni reaffirmed the shared values of Europe and the U.S. during a meeting with American officials.

The Italian prime minister also dismissed criticism over taking her 7-year-old daughter to China.
