A deputy governor of the Russian Federation has been detained on drug-related charges

Yuri Petukhov, first deputy governor of the Novosibirsk Region, was detained in Moscow on suspicion of drug trafficking.

According to Russian media reports, he was detained by FSB officers during an official trip to the capital. It is reported that prohibited substances were found on the official during his detention, and packets of drugs were discovered during a search of his hotel room. Some Telegram channels also mentioned cocaine.

He has been charged with possession of narcotic substances. According to sources, Petukhov has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the investigation. A court in Moscow ordered his detention as a pretrial measure.

Following his arrest, Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrei Travnikov dismissed him from his post and announced a redistribution of responsibilities within the regional government.

Petukhov had held the position since 2015 and was responsible for domestic policy, personnel matters, and interaction with regional authorities.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

Russia is spreading disinformation about “drugs” in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

A large-scale disinformation campaign has begun in Europe aimed at discrediting Ukraine through false accusations of “energy terrorism.”

In addition, the Russian authorities are once again attempting to distort the meaning of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum to justify armed aggression against Ukraine and the violation of its territorial integrity.
