Chungju Mayor Lee Dong-seok appears in a wig in a promotional video
Chungju’s new mayor in North Chungcheong Province, Lee Dong-seok, posted an 18-second promotional video on YouTube in which he appeared wearing a long wig and scarf, danced and lip-synced to music. As Korea Herald reports, the video is titled “I Love Chungju Fancam (Moving Stone Version)” and ends with a close-up of a sign reading “I love Chungju.”
Promoting the city on social media
In the video, Lee Dong-seok makes a heart gesture and lip-syncs to “I Like You,” a song by fictional ballad singer Choi Seong-gon from the film “Wild Sing.” It is the third similar video by the 40-year-old mayor, who was elected on June 3.
Chungju’s official YouTube channel has about 830,000 subscribers. A significant share of this audience was attracted by city government employee Kim Seong-tae, known as the “Chungju Man.” He left his job in the city administration before the June elections.

Style of previous videos
The mayor’s new videos follow the low-budget and unconventional style of Kim’s clips, which, according to the outlet, helped popularize Chungju among younger audiences. In previous posts, Lee Dong-seok danced to Ateez’s song “Bad” while promoting Chungju peaches, and also lay on a table in a video about sweet potatoes.
During his inauguration, the mayor said that his goals include developing industries of the future in the city and creating a foundation to encourage young people to visit and live in Chungju.
