WERise network in Ghana urges women entrepreneurs to scale businesses — MyJoyOnline
The WERise network has urged women entrepreneurs in Ghana not to limit themselves to launching businesses, but to develop sustainable companies capable of increasing revenue, creating jobs and supporting the country’s economic growth. This was discussed at the network’s annual general meeting and regional forums held on September 28, 2026, in Accra, MyJoyOnline reports.
The event was held under the theme “Rise & Scale: Celebrating Growth, Building Revenue, Creating Jobs.” It brought together women entrepreneurs, business representatives, industry partners and other stakeholders. WERise CEO Eunice Devi Adjei noted women’s progress in entrepreneurship and emphasized the need to expand opportunities for the transition from business growth to scaling.
Support for women’s entrepreneurship
WERise brings together more than 25,000 women entrepreneurs across 16 regions of Ghana. The Ghana Enterprises Agency, represented at the meeting by the director of its women’s entrepreneurship unit, confirmed its intention to support women-owned businesses. Finance, digitalization and brands
Participants were advised to strengthen internal business systems before entering larger markets. This includes financial management, record-keeping, branding, customer service, digitalization and effective business processes. The organizers noted that this could help women-owned businesses become more structured and better sustain growth.
Representatives of CalBank, MTN and Telecel presented their products and services to participants. The program also included a presentation by branding and strategic marketing consultant Cynthia Torto on building sustainable brands for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as discussions and networking.
As part of WERise’s 2026 annual program, an exhibition at Yenze Ghana Mall and practical workshops on financial literacy, artificial intelligence and digital tools, risk management and insurance, storytelling and brand building are planned. The WERise network was created by the Ghana Enterprises Agency together with the Mastercard Foundation.
