Pakistan’s finance minister says protests could cause losses — Dawn
Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that protests and sit-ins could cause the country’s economy losses of around 120 billion Pakistani rupees per day. He gave this estimate in a recorded televised address, citing research findings.
Marches to Islamabad
As Dawn reports, the statement was made ahead of PTI’s protest march to Islamabad planned for September 27. The Pakistani government had previously stated its intention to prevent the event from taking place.
PTI announced a nationwide protest demanding the release of the party’s founder, Imran Khan. The party also intends to mobilize people in support of the supremacy of the Constitution and head to the capital.

Minister’s statement
On the same day, Jamaat-i-Islami also began a march toward Islamabad, demanding that the government abolish the fuel levy.
Aurangzeb called the protests and sit-ins “self-inflicted pain.” According to him, such actions are taking place amid economic difficulties caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
