Traditional smock from northern Ghana presented in Lesotho — MyJoyOnline
In Maseru, Lesotho, a delegation from Ghana presented a traditional smock from northern Ghana to Lesotho’s Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mpoti Stephen Mpoti. The ceremony took place during the Lesotho Tourism Pitso tourism summit, MyJoyOnline reports.
Cultural presentation at the summit
The two-day event, held on September 16–17, brought together representatives of the tourism and cultural sectors of Lesotho and other African countries. Participants discussed opportunities for tourism development, cultural exchange and cooperation on the continent.
The smock was presented by representatives of Kacstone Records and Sister Kingdom Network. The Ghanaian delegation included Kacstone Records CEO Venavome Abore Duriyem, Sister Kingdom Network supreme leader Ambassador Dr. Tengol K. Kplemani, and Kacstone Records public relations specialist Alexander Naaga Bombandi.

The presentation of the traditional garment was intended to emphasize the cultural identity of northern Ghana and promote its culture and heritage through tourism. Duriyem also called for more active youth involvement in cultural exchange and cross-border cooperation to develop African tourism.
Prospects for the tourism industry
According to the publication, Lesotho says it is ready to attract foreign investment in its tourism industry. Mpoti described the country’s tourism ecosystem as unique and highlighted its highland landscapes, opportunities for adventure tourism, cultural heritage and the hospitality of the Basotho people.
The Principal Secretary of Lesotho’s Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mantiti Habo, expressed optimism about the sector’s prospects. She welcomed the participation of delegations from Ghana, Mozambique and other African countries, noting that this demonstrates a willingness to cooperate in the development of tourism, arts and culture.
