The U.S. Treasury Secretary Opposed Zelenskyy's Visit to the White House, According to The Guardian

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent allegedly opposed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House and used derogatory language toward him in private conversations.

According to the authors of the book—journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, who investigated the inner workings of Donald Trump’s second presidential term— Bassent allegedly insisted that the Ukrainian leader not be received in the Oval Office until an agreement on mineral resources was signed.

The book claims that the U.S. Treasury Secretary spoke harshly about Zelenskyy in private conversations and called for postponing his visit to the White House.

At the same time, the authors note that the U.S. Treasury Department has not commented on the claims made in the book.

The meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump did take place on February 28, 2025, but, according to the authors, it ended in a tense discussion. The book states that during the talks, Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance expressed complaints about Ukraine’s alleged lack of gratitude for American aid.

It is also reported that during Bessent’s trip to Kyiv to promote a mineral resources agreement, a 45-minute heated argument allegedly took place between him and Zelenskyy.

Separately, the book’s authors claim that the text of the agreement sparked controversy within the U.S. administration, particularly between the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Department of Commerce. According to their information, Donald Trump allegedly instructed Ushi Vance, the wife of the U.S. vice president and a Yale Law School graduate, to review Ukraine’s amendments to the document.

The issue of continued financial and military support for Ukraine remains one of the key items on the international agenda and continues to be discussed among the world’s leading nations.

This is discussed in the new book *Regime Change*, excerpts of which were published by *The Guardian*.

Previously, former White House physicians expressed concern about the health of U.S. President Donald Trump. According to them, the administration is accused of a lack of transparency regarding Trump’s medical condition. It is also claimed that over the past 13 months, the U.S. president has sought medical care three times.

U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing for his next scheduled medical examination at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, which has once again drawn attention to his health.

Debate in the U.S. has flared up again over Donald Trump’s physical and mental health after footage surfaced online from the Oval Office showing him allegedly dozing off during an official event. The discussion quickly moved beyond this single incident and escalated into a broader political and medical debate. Some experts point to alarming signs in the president’s behavior, but there is no official diagnosis.
