Nepal minister calls for stepping up dialogue mechanisms with India — NDTV World
Nepal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal said during the India-Nepal Anviksha dialogue in Kathmandu that there are obvious issues between the two neighboring countries, including concerning the border. He stressed the need for more frequent meetings of bilateral mechanisms and said they had resumed functioning in recent months.
Talks on bilateral issues
Khanal noted that Nepal and India have certain issues, but, in his view, they are not as large-scale as they are often portrayed in public narratives. He also said the sides are working on organizing high-level visits in 2026, but no specific dates have been set yet.
India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, said that India wants all its neighbors to develop and prosper alongside it. According to him, New Delhi has been working in this direction over the past several years.

Floods in Nepal
The NDTV Anviksha: Ideas Across Borders dialogue began with a minute of silence for those killed in flash floods in Nepal. As NDTV World reports, the disaster claimed the lives of more than 160 people.
Khanal said that of more than 400 foreigners who went missing after the floods, nearly 300 are Indian citizens. India’s ambassador said that contact has not yet been established with many of the missing people due to a lack of electricity and non-functioning communication networks.
The event in Kathmandu was dedicated to Nepal-India relations, as well as issues of politics, the economy, society, and Nepal’s future. It is attended by politicians, diplomats, business representatives, technology sector representatives, young entrepreneurs, athletes, and cultural figures from both countries.
