Norway's Defense Minister Responded Sharply to Trump's Accusations – Politico
Norwegian Defense Minister Ture O. Sandvik rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated statements regarding Greenland, emphasizing that allies monitoring Russia’s actions in the far north are already taking concrete steps to ensure security in the Arctic.
The head of Norway’s Defense Ministry stressed that the island’s sovereignty is a “red line,” since Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and this position is being clearly communicated to the U.S. side. According to the official, the main military threat in the Arctic is not related to Greenland, as no activity by Russia or China has been observed in the vicinity of the island.

Sandvik’s statements were a response to remarks by the U.S. leader that Greenland “should be under U.S. control, not Denmark’s,” in order to strengthen security in the region. The Norwegian minister noted that his country views the issue differently and reminded his American counterparts of the role their northern allies play in defending their homeland.
During closed-door talks, Trump sought nearly complete control over Greenland.
