Miss Jamaica sues Miss Universe over stage fall in Thailand — Global News Canada

Jamaica’s representative at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, Gabrielle Henry, has filed a lawsuit against the Miss Universe organization and its parent companies after falling from the stage during the competition in Bangkok, Thailand. She claims the incident could have been avoided with proper safety measures.

As Global News Canada reports, the fall occurred on November 19, 2025, during the preliminary evening gown round of the competition. In a video shared on social media, Henry, wearing an orange dress and high-heeled shoes, walks along the runway and then, turning left, steps off the edge of the stage and falls.

Injuries after the incident

In an interview with ABC News, Henry described the experience as one of the most traumatic moments of her life. According to her, she lost consciousness after the fall and does not remember the incident itself. The contestant said she suffered a brain hemorrhage, as well as facial and back injuries.

Henry was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit. She said Miss Universe initially provided support during her stay in Thailand, but after returning to Jamaica she did not receive sufficient feedback regarding coverage of the medical expenses she continues to incur.

Lawsuit and claims against the organizers

According to Henry, during her walk she was following instructions received at rehearsal: looking at the cameras and then turning left as directed. She said she did not trip and that the opening in the stage should have been barricaded or covered.

The lawsuit was filed against the Miss Universe Organization, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA. In the lawsuit, Henry brought claims of negligence, negligent hiring, retention and supervision of employees, as well as negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Her attorney, Joseph Ciaccio, said the organizers should have ensured the contestants’ safety. The Miss Universe Organization did not respond to Global News Canada’s request for comment.
