Moldova condemned Russia's violation of Romania's airspace

Moldovan President Maia Sandu condemned what she called systematic violations of Romania’s airspace by Russia, the aggressor state. Her statement came after reports of another Russian drone being shot down over Romania.

According to “European Truth,” Sandu stated that this constitutes a violation of Romania’s airspace and, consequently, that of NATO and the European Union. She also expressed her respect for the skill and courage of the Romanian Air Force.

“Romania’s security is Moldova’s security. We stand in solidarity with Romania,” the Moldovan president wrote on the social media platform X.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan reported that a drone was shot down over Romanian territory on July 26. This was the third such incident in the last three days. On July 25, at around 8:30 a.m. local time, an enemy drone was shot down 10 kilometers west of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense clarified that this drone was shot down by the same pilot who shot down another drone on Friday. On July 24, the Romanian military shot down a drone that had flown deep into the country’s territory using a fighter jet for the first time. According to Romanian officials, the aircraft was visually identified as a “Shahed”-type drone.
